In the case of COVID, the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies SAGE has been providing ministers and officials with free and frank advice throughout, based on external scientific evidence and a wide source of essential information. This is an incredibly fast-moving, developing situation and as part of our collective efforts to give the clearest and most reliable scientific advice, SAGE has and continues to draw upon a huge range of experts and a huge range of evidence.
The UK is home to experts who are at the forefront of their chosen fields and we are making full use of their expertise to grow our understanding of COVID as we work tirelessly to tackle this disease. The collective evidence we have published today has played a considerable role in shaping our recommendations on when, how and why the government have made the interventions it has so far. The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies SAGE provides ministers and officials with evidence-based scientific advice in emergencies, ensuring government advisers are informed and best-placed to make critical decisions based on a range of credible scientific evidence.

And the Scot played his own pivotal part in the development of these new scientific advances. Automobile companies are working round the clock at the moment to create these new vehicles in a bid to reduce carbon emissions. But, almost years ago, Davidson originally devised the mechanics of bringing such a plan to fruition. That is one of the reasons his exploits are largely unknown. However, a new book by Dr Antony Anderson, which has been published with the backing of the Grampian Transport Museum in Alford, has emphatically demonstrated that Davidson was a man who was generations ahead of his time.
Mike Ward, the curator at the museum, said he was very impressed with the trailblazing methods which were used by his compatriot during one of the most revolutionary periods in the history of science, technology and engineering. He was involved in crafting useful things, including the black art of making and sharpening files.
He specialised in yeast propagation to help develop the emerging distilling industry. He took it out of the laboratory and put it to work…. This was no mean feat in the mids. And it has become clear that his electric carriage — which could carry two people — was the first recorded passenger-carrying EV in history. Last week, they were inspected by Dr Hamel from Russia, a gentleman well known in the scientific world, and who expressed his huge gratification with the exhibition.

TV makes meeting people look much too easy. No one expects to live across the hall from their soulmates like Monica and Chandler or to find love at their small town office job like Jim and Pam. Between success stories from Love Island and going on first dates via video calls to get around a pandemic, the rules for finding love have officially gone right out the window. Online dating is hardly a novel way to meet people and is an increasingly popular topic of study.
If you’re still doubting the possibility of finding love online, consider this study cited in the MIT Technology Review that found that compatibility was greater in partners who had met online. A similar study found that couples who met online said their marriage was more satisfying than those who met their spouse offline. The thought is that people who take the time to make a profile and answer each bio prompt thoughtfully are looking for the same substance you are, and online dating is your chance to meet them when you otherwise probably wouldn’t have known they exist.
We don’t think it gets more serendipitous than that.
